Sinfully good – Anarchism on the offensive

More than two years of the pandemic are behind us. Two years that caused many deaths, suffering and depression. It was a time that made us face a big challenge as a radical left wing, anti-authoritarian movement, because naturally we don’t want to endanger anyone and stop the virus from spreading. We do not want to behave in a manner that does put our comrades and other beings at an unnecessary risk. However, we want to continue fighting for a world worth living in.

Now and then, we loathed helplessly at the thousands that took part in the so called “Corona-protests”, in which they got instrumentalised by fascists and their agenda or willingly contributed it. Thus, it is clear that we have hardly overcome fascism in Germany. Plus, a great number of wealthy people, the bourgeoisie, tend to position themselves during the crisis to the far right.

While right-wing radicals have experienced a boost in popularity, law-and-order fans thrived with joy in politics: restrictions of freedom were implemented under the guise of infection control – of course only for us, the wage-dependent, marginalized population. Furthermore, the wealth and the economy were preserved and supported: the ruling class once again didn’t give a shit about their own laws and, like Andy Grote or Boris Johnson, celebrated champagne receptions or their own parties during many lockdowns. And while we supported many of the measures against covid, because they made sense to us or we didn’t know it better at the time, even seemingly untouchable spheres (also for the bourgeoisie) got impaired. For two years in a row almost all parts of our lives, from freedom of movement to privacy rights and the right to progressive protest, got limited or banned. In the mean time, conspiracy theorists and fascists where allowed to a great extend to spread their propaganda – and their viruses – untroubled in our cities. We all remember it was the same cops that protected the “Querdenker”-movement, that didn’t allow a emancipatory demo to happen a few days later.

Our Demo on 1. May was affected twice as well. The first time we gave in because we didn’t know how dangerous the covid-pandemic would be. But 2021 the harassment by the police was too obvious. Despite the ban of our demo, people spontaneously took the streets to show: That the 1st of May is a day of resistance and it is anti-authoritarian. We were not surprised by the states reaction with repression and violence.

The situation here is fucked up and intolerable. Nevertheless we know that a lot of comrade have to fight battles which are way harder. On a global scale, the freedom of all people is under real threat. In Russia, Teenagers are sentenced to years in jail because of their anarchist ideas. Squatted houses and forests in Germany, Greece and many other places were evicted recently. In Myanmar the military organized a coup, and anarchists are fighting alongside many other rebel forces on the front against the military regime. Russia invades Ukraine and here anarchists had to make a choice we don’t wish on anyone: should they side with the state that goes after them in times of peace or risk Putins dictatorship? The eyes of the world are on Ukraine right now, but also other wars all over the world are still happening. Bombs are falling also on Syria, where the NATO-member Turkey continues to murder ruthlessly in Rojava.

It doesn’t look too good for the world. Yet, that’s not news. We can’t allow ourselves to give up. We can’t allow ourselves to give in nor to become numb. Every day we struggle to fight the reactionary barbarism, the bloody rake of capitalism, the oppression of our freedom, freedom that has been achieved through the tedious and dreadful resistance of millions of comrades in the past. Again, the utopia we all dream of within the light of the authoritarian formations of this world are not anywhere close to our reach.

Yet, many fierce moments that make our everyday lives livable, give us hope. Self-organization beyond the structures of the state in times of the pandemic or war makes us experience a taste of how a world of solidarity and mutual help could look like. Moments of hope were created by all the young people who resisted the cops with fierce spirits in the last two summers, that wanted to destroy their remaining free spaces. We take courage out of the rebellious moments that occurred during the arrest of Lina, the eviction of Køpi-Wagenplatz and the endangerment of Rigaer94 as well as anyone that didn’t bounce back and kept on fighting.

All these struggles, as diverse as they might be, go back to the spirit of anarchy, of social uprising. They show us that our hope for a better, liberated life lies in anarchy, in communism, lies on anti-authoritarian self-organization and the free association.

On the first of May, the resistance day of all marginalized people, we stand against the appropriation from fascists and the traitors of DGB and SPD. We also stand against authoritarian tendencies, who abuse the message of solidarity to stir up hate and expand their misanthropic impact. Only a society of solidarity and mutual help who is oriented to our needs provides a chance for a liberated future worth living for.

They know this: the ruling class, the cops, the fascists, the authoritarians of this world. They know, that they are in the way of such a society and their power won’t have a place there anymore. This is why anarchy has always been a thorn to their side. This is why they try to keep us small, all over the world. Sometimes more, sometimes less bloody. This is why anarchism is sinful. Sinfully good!

Join us on the streets on 1. May 2022. For a revolutionary, rebellious and anti-authoritarian first of May.

Our anger and our hate needs to get out. On the resistance day of the workers movement as well as on any other day. We’re taking the streets – if they like it or not. The streets belong to us all. To those dependent on their wage, those who are marginalized and discriminated because of their descent, their color of skin, their religion, their gender identity, because of various man-made categories. The street belongs to the movement of climate justice, the FLINTA*1-People, the uncomfortable ones and all people who have had enough and finally want to live in freedom and solidarity, in peace with all of their fellow human beings and the planet. This is the motto on first of May: Sinfully good – Anarchism to the offensive.
